STEP 5 long-term data on maintenance dosing: the 104-week (2-year) extension showed sustained weight loss of -15.2% with continued semaglutide vs weight regain in the discontinuation group[1].
Key insight: weight loss continued to accrue between weeks 68 and 104 in many patients, suggesting the nadir may not occur until year 2+. The 68-week primary endpoint in most trials may underestimate maximal efficacy.
This supports long-term, open-ended treatment rather than fixed-duration "courses" of therapy.

Bookmarking. The distinction being drawn above is the one nobody else makes.
Adding the clinical framing, because it changes how the question reads.
Pregnancy after maintenance dosing weight loss: stopped GLP-1 medication 4 months before TTC as recommended. Was terrified of regaining weight during pregnancy.
Worked closely with my OB and MFM. Gained 28 lbs during pregnancy (within recommended range). Baby is healthy. The metabolic improvements from pre-pregnancy weight loss gave both of us a healthier pregnancy.
If you're planning pregnancy, discuss the medication discontinuation timeline with your OB. GLP-1 agonists are NOT safe during pregnancy.

This is my experience too, for whatever a second data point is worth.

Coming at JenPlateau’s question from a different direction. The dose-response is real but shallow at the top. Across STEP 1 and STEP 4 the gap between 1.7mg and 2.4mg is a couple of percentage points of body weight on average, and the average is carrying a wide spread — plenty of people at 1.7mg sit above the 2.4mg mean. If a dose is working and tolerable, "working" is the relevant variable, not "maximal".
Ask again with the specifics and you will get a better answer than this one.
